শাবনম, ৩৪ বছরের একজন junior accountant, Motijheel-এর একটি ব্যস্ত office building-এর নবম তলায় নিজের desk-এ বসে ছিল। দুপুর ২টা ৪০ মিনিট, বাইরে প্রখর রোদে রাস্তার ট্রাফিক ধীরে চলছিল, আর ভেতরে AC-র শীতল হাওয়া আর keyboard-এর টিকটিক শব্দ ছাড়া তেমন কিছু শোনা যাচ্ছিল না। তার সামনে খোলা ছিল একটি পুরনো ledger, যার রুক্ষ পাতায় আঙুল ছোঁয়ালে শুষ্ক কাগজের অনুভূতি হতো।

হঠাৎ তার চোখ আটকে গেল একটি discrepancy-তে। গত মাসের expense আর এই মাসের receipt-এর যোগফলে মিলছে না। শাবনম গভীরভাবে analyze করতে লাগল। সে জানত, এই ছোট ভুলটি পরে বড় problem হয়ে দাঁড়াতে পারে। তাই সে মাথা ঠান্ডা রেখে প্রতিটি entry আবার verify করতে শুরু করল।
